Royal Inn “Bed and Beverage” / R Bar
This bar / hotel was way down Royal St. and a block beyond Esplanade. It’s definitely a local’s sort of dive and they were serving free BBQ the night I was there. Their $5 Jameson / beer combo is worth mentioning.

India House Hostel, Kitchen Cat
While in New Orleans for the week, I decided to stay in a hostel rather than splitting a hotel room with other cadets. India House was well-reviewed online and it seemed like a warm, eclectic place. Overall, I was pleased with my stay and the nightly home-cooked dinner offerings were inexpensive and the servings were generous. As an added bonus, rad house cats.
